Successful 61st Annual Conference of the Austrian Society of Neurosurgery in Vienna

The 61st Annual Conference of the Austrian Society of Neurosurgery (ÖGNC), led by Conference President Univ.-Prof. Dr. Karl Rössler, was a resounding success. From October 2nd to 4th, 2025, neurosurgery professionals gathered in Vienna to exchange insights on the latest developments in the field.

Prof. Rössler highlighted the profound changes currently underway in neurosurgery: "Technological advancements, particularly in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, and data-driven medicine, are offering us opportunities today that were once pure future visions. With this dynamic come not only great opportunities but also new challenges," said Rössler.

The theme of the conference, "The Future of Neurosurgery in the Age of Artificial Intelligence," was reflected throughout the program. Presentations covered topics such as AI-assisted image analysis, intraoperative navigation, and predictive models for therapeutic decision-making. Special attention was also given to the ethical, legal, and organizational questions surrounding the introduction of new technologies.

"Only through interdisciplinary exchange can we ensure that innovations benefit our patients," emphasized Rössler.

The conference team, consisting of Ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Christian Matula, DDr. Fabian Winter, and Dr. Julia Shawarba, provided a varied and scientifically sound program.
