When an inpatient hospitalisation is required
Medical competence & safety side by side with professional compassionate care and nursing around the clock
For the inpatient treatment of our patients, we have two normal-bed wards and an intensive care unit. The normal-bed wards each have 23 beds, divided into 2- and 3-bed rooms, as well as a 4-bed monitoring room.
A team of doctors and nurses and qualified nurses, supported by physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and clinical psychologists, provides our patients with professional care around the clock. In the neurosurgical intensive care unit, patients are treated in close cooperation with colleagues from the Department of Anaesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine and Pain Medicine.
The pre-operative assesment with the treating neurosurgeon as well as the processing of other relevant documents and forms usually takes place in our outpatient clinic. The AKH Vienna leaflet on Preparation for surgery under Anesthesia/Regional Anesthesia should also be considered.
In order to optimize organizational procedures, we ask our patients to contact our surgery planning office at +43 1 40400-25690 from 12:30 to 14:00 on the day BEFORE the planned surgery in order to have the admission confirmed.
Unfortunately, there are always short-term postponements of the admission date due to incoming emergencies. We ask for your understanding.
Our goal is make our patients stay at our clinic as efficient and pleasant as possible by providing the best possible care both pre- and post-operatively.
