Tumor Board Neurooncology

Tumor Board

The Neuro-oncology Tumour Board has been held weekly, thursdays, at the Department of Neurosurgery since 2005. In addition to experts from the Department of Neurosurgery, this interdisciplinary meeting is also attended by representatives from the Departments of Biomedical Imaging and Image-guided Therapy, Neurology, Radiation Oncology  and the Divisions of Neuropathology and Neurochemistry and of Oncology.

In the Neurooncology Tumour Board, around 10-15 cases of patients with tumours of the central nervous system (CNS), such as brain tumors, metastases and rare tumor entities, are discussed on an interdisciplinary basis per meeting. This allows us to determine the optimal therapy for each individual patient, both pre- and postoperatively.

This also ensures that patients have access to new and promising therapies and studies at the earliest possible stage. The establishment of the Neurooncology Tumor Board at the Medical University of Vienna has thus significantly improved the care of patients with CNS tumors.
