As part of both the SIOP LGG 2003 (International Society of Pediatric Oncology – Low Grade Glioma) and the SIOP LGG 2014 European therapy study for low-grade CNS tumors, Univ.-Prof. Thomas Czech served as reference neurosurgeon and was co-responsible for the neurosurgical protocol guidelines.
For the SIOP CNS GCT II therapy study on the treatment of intracranial germ cell tumors (icGCT), Univ.-Prof. Thomas Czech also served as reference neurosurgeon and has been chair of the icGCT group since 2013. Assoc. Prof. PD Dr. Christian Dorfer, MBA, has been Chair of the SIOP-BT Working Group for Education and Training since 2021 and, since 2023, Chair of the SIOP-BT Working Group for Ependymoma. In this role, he is also involved in the new European study protocol for the treatment of ependymomas. In addition, he is co-responsible for the development of the new European therapy protocol for the treatment of medulloblastomas (MB6 trial).
Assoc. Prof. PD Dr. Christian Dorfer, MBA, and Univ.-Prof. Thomas Czech are also members of various working groups within the International Society of Pediatric Oncology (Société Internationale d’Oncologie Pédiatrique), where new study protocols are being developed.
